Titus 2 Men And Women

Living A Christian Life - Part 3
by Heather Mossman

Chapter 3
GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
In this lesson we are going to look at God’s faithfulness and His judgment.

Vs 1-2
God kept his promise (oracles) to the Jews. In fact, God remained faithful even when the Jews wandered away from Him.

Vs 3
The Question is asked that if someone is unbelieving if that makes the faithfulness of God any less powerful. Unbelief displays the weakness of man because it is man’s choice to believe and to obey.

Vs 4
Paul makes the point that our belief has nothing to do with God’s faithfulness. It is sad that Paul had to emphasize that God is true and just and when judgment comes it is going to be God that judges from His standard of right, His law of righteousness.

What if our sins praised the goodness of God? Then would it be ok to sin? NO, if that were the case then why did God give us the 10 commandments? (Ex. 20) Just like a parent will not punish a child for doing right, (James 1:17) God will never pass a judgment that is not warranted or deserved. He never will go back on his word or be a hypocrite. How can God be the judge of the world if He did not give us rules to live by? So no matter who we think we are we are all sinners exposed to the wrath of God. It is never right to do wrong, and never wrong to do right.

Vs 10
No one has been or ever will be righteous, none can totally understand God. To Him we are at first unprofitable –that which was first good turned bad.

Vs 13
Our throat is a part that can lead to death, our tongues are deceitful Jeremiah 9:5 – it speaks lies, James 3:8-10 – no man can tame it, we use it to bless God and then we turn around and curse men with it.

Vs 15-17
Mankind is quick to shed blood and the human way is that of destruction and misery and the human nature has no way of having true peace on our own.

Vs 18
The fear of God is not intrinsic in our nature either. We are always willing to excuse and attempt to justify our own poor choices and wickedness as being the same as what everyone else is doing. (Proverbs 22:6.)

Vs 19-20
We are all under the law, no one is above it. The purpose of the law is that we can see just how sinful we really are, and how great is our need a Saviour, because we are all guilty! God is showing His righteousness of Christ by believing on Him.

Vs.23
While this verse clearly shows us our failures it just as clearly gives us the promise of justification through the grace of Jesus Christ

Vs 25
God sent Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sins.

Vs 26
Christ is just, therefore those who believe on Him, those who accept His sacrifice receive His justification.

Vs 27
When we recognize our justification is through Jesus Christ and what He did for us, our focus will change from what we consider good about ourselves and will become praise to a just and loving God. We are justified by faith in God.
