"Male and Female created he them." Genesis 1:27 God created men and women to be entirely different in every way. No man wants a wife who acts, walks and talks like himself! Men, saved or otherwise, have respect for those ladies who continue to be feminine in a society that seems bent on erasing that identity. How is our society undoing what God originally intended? When you observe little children at play, you easily recognize the difference. Girls want to play with dolls. Boys want to play with toy trucks. ! Girls want to play "house." Boys want to play army games and, if parents allow, use play guns. Things have changed. Little girls and little boys still have the same interests as always, but young ladies, after graduating from high school, now want to play "army," using real guns. They want to "blow things up." As little girls, they wanted to play house, a completely natural ambition. After they graduate from high school, playing "house" is the farthest thing from their minds. They want a career! They want to be successful making money so that they can do such-n-such and go to such-n-such a place and buy such-n-such, and so-on-and-so-forth-and-so-on. We also have those who call themselves stay-at-home men, who are content to play mom. His wife goes out into a dog-eat-dog work world while they keep house, kiss the children’s tears away, make the meals, and bear children...?! There are times when we recognize that the old-fashioned way was, after all, the best way! In my youth, my dad worked as many hours as was necessary while mother brought eleven children into the world. The boys acted like boys, and my sisters acted like girls...all eight of them! Naturally, all of my sisters had the same ambition--to marry and have a family of their own which, as of today, has enriched my parents with 40 grandchildren, and a continuous succession of high school graduations. Is there a possibility that God did not intend for girls and young ladies to participate in, what might be thought of as manly and masculine events, including participation in manly and masculine sports? "Is this a ‘put-down’ on women?" Not from me! I consider myself as one of those "tough guys" who, without his wife, would be one helpless, little puppy. I am not suggesting that women are not "tough." Anyone who can endure nine months of discomfort and survive child birth is tough stuff. After the birth of our first son, I was the one who, with the doctor’s arm around my shoulders, sobbed my way down the hall to get a glimpse of the cute little guy who had put me through 33 and 1/2 hours of pure agony. Upon our arrival at the hospital, I thought the wheel chair was for me. Tough! Women are tough as nails! When a woman gets sick, everything goes on as usual. When the man gets sick...well, he’s really sick! Why would I dare suggest that women should limit themselves to certain types of sport activities? Simply put--As little girls are distinctively different from little boys (as God intended,) so should women be distinctly different from men. Nothing should change with the passing of years. A woman should continue to be womanly as the man should continue to be manly. Womanly graces should never be erased.
