Stubble Instead of Straw

"So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw." Ex. 5:12 

"Stubble instead of straw" This is what the world gives us, stubble with which it asks us to build our lives! I desire the straw of God, rather than the stubble of this world.

The tools of Satan are stubble, while the principles of God are straw. As straw strengthened the brick and gave it stability, so does the straw of God's principles in our lives. To build the bricks without straw, caused them to be weakened, and inferior; so it is with the life we "build" in this world without the principles of God and good. The taskmaster (world) in not providing straw, caused the Israelites to make inferior bricks, thereby hurting themselves in the long run. (v.13) Isn't this just like the world? In attempting to hinder the Children of God, they make it hard on themselves. 

What will it be for you, stubble or straw? As we build our lives let us chose the principles and precepts of God's Word, and build with good strong "bricks" so that the building will stand in the storms. Don't settle for nothing less than what God provides, and you can be assured that the job will be done right, and last forever.
