Genesis 23

Genesis 23 - How's your testimony?

"Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead." (Genesis 23:6 KJV)

Notice, if you will, the first two lines of this verse, especially, "thou art a mighty prince among us." How's your testimony? I wonder if we would be considered "a mighty prince" among our peers and workplace? Abraham was blessed of God, and everyone knew it! (Gen. 21:22). Can others say to us, "God is with thee in all that thou doest"? When God has blessed us, our prosperity will be known; we will rise to great heights even as Daniel and Joseph did among the heathen, and Abraham before them. Have you got God's blessings in your life? If not, why not? They are there for all of us. Think now, which of God's faithful servants was not blessed abundantly? God is a gracious God, and full of compassions. We, therefore, ought to "stand out" in a crowd, and be an outstanding influence on others.

If we will walk with God, as Enoch did, every day and all day long, we too will see the blessings of God on our lives. Abraham sought the Lord in all things, and became the "friend of God." (James 2:23). We need to know Him, and to be His friend too. To know the Lord, is to first get close to Him; We must read and study Him in His Word; We need to meet with Him often, and delight ourselves in Him; we need to talk with him daily, all the day long. We need to know Him in our minds, be mindful of Him, and let it sink down into our hearts. We need to feel as comfortable with Him as we are at home with our family; hence, we must "abide in Him." Is He in your home as well as in your heart, brethren? Are you at home in Him?
