2. Because the old men of God believed in it

David believed in eternal security, which is clearly seen in 2 Samuel 12:23, where David and Bath-Sheba lost their son. It is seen in many Psalms, especially Psalm 23:6, where He says ..."and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever", even after adultery, deception, and murder! God is so good.

And what about Moses? Surely the crime of murder would cause one to be "written off" by God, if it were possible. He was, perhaps, the greatest leader that ever lived, and a man that was "more than a prophet" according to God Himself!

Job knew it too, as seen in Job 19:26, where he says "In my flesh shall I see God" as if it were a fact, and not "iffy". There were many others too, but if I cited them all, would it do any good? Too many men explain away gospel proofs because they have their minds already made up and will not be convinced. Though this is short, (one could find a book full of scriptures if he was to diligently search) as stated previously, one should be enough when it is God's Holy Word

3. Because it is Scriptural.

Salvation is a gift, I think we will all agree with that. Romans 11:29 tells us "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." The gift, once given, is not to be repented of, this is a promise from God Himself. Whether salvation is a gift, or a calling, it is "without repentance" or not to be taken back. To argue with that is to argue with scripture.

Another passage we need to consider is that of Romans 8: 38,39:
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Folks, you can't get away from the love of God. No matter how much we might try, we can't make Him stop loving us, and that is what He would have to do to abandon us. Along with this, let us consider v. 35 of Romans 8, and Psalms 139:7-10:
"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. "
Again, you cannot get away from the love of God, no matter what you do, or where you go.

Now, let us consider another verse:
Hebrews 5:9 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" Now this verse even mentions eternal salvation, and has God as its author! The skeptic will say, "yea, it says you have to obey Him", but, dear friends, though the salvation is said to be eternal, it does not say that the obeying is! In other words, we have obeyed Him, when we took Christ as our Savior, and walked in His will at least at one time. It does not say we must "continually obey" Him, but just that we must initially obey Him. I know that this will be called a technicality, but it is true nonetheless. By the way, "eternal" salvation is just that, never ending, otherwise it cannot be eternal, but "intermittent salvation." That is what most people seem to think we have.

Let's now look at 1 Peter 1:4,5:
"To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Our inheritance (in Christ) will not "fade away" it cannot because it is incorruptible. Only that which is corruptible can be destroyed, as sin eats away at its structure and moral fiber. Rust, decay, death, all these are corruption, and end up in total destruction, but the inheritance we have in Christ (Heaven through salvation) is incorruptible, everlasting. Furthermore, it cannot fade away because it is kept by God Himself, and not by us! We need not try to hold unto that which we could not obtain in the first place. Can you see, dear reader, that to hold on to your salvation by trying to live it is a result of obtaining it our way? This verse is pretty clear, we are kept saved by God; "unto salvation" and the power of God is so great that we cannot break it, neither can the devil himself!

Folks, I know there are verses that seem to refute this doctrine, but God never contradicts Himself, if we see a verse that so clearly supports it, how can we ignore it? With an overwhelming amount of verses supporting it, one must reconsider those few that are questionable, wouldn't you think?

Hebrews 9:12 tells us that Christ obtained "eternal redemption for us" What more need we say? Is our redemption eternal, or is it not? Look up all the verses that speak of eternal life or everlasting life, they define themselves.

Consider: Jn. 10:28,29; Jn. 5:24; Jn 3:16; 1 Peter 1:5; Jn 1:12,13; Acts 16:31; Mt 18:10-14; Jn. 3:18; Rom. 8:1; Eph. 1:13;Eph 4:30; 1 Pet. 1:23; Jn. 4:14; Rom. 6:23; 1 Pet. 1:4; Jn. 11:26; Jn. 6:37, 39;Rom. 5:9...must I go on? There are several more, but if you have come this far, you got the message!

4. Because it just makes sense!

Will you accept this false doctrine of spiritual reincarnation, where one is born over and over again? That's what you do when you deny the doctrine of eternal salvation. It just doesn't make sense not to believe in the "once saved always saved" doctrine.

No, this is not a "license to sin" as some suppose, nor an excuse to sin; we are saved "unto good works" and that is the whole reason for our salvation, to do good, and glorify God. See how it makes sense to believe the truth?
