Titus 2 Men And Women |

| Freedom Is Not Free by Pastor Wayne Harper We Americans pride ourselves on being a free people. We live under a system of government "of the people, by the people and for the people." By right of our Constitution, we have freedoms which the majority of people in the world will never enjoy. Our freedom today though is not free. It was bought and paid for by the efforts and sacrifice of our fore-fathers. They gave up their fortunes and, in some instances, sacrificed their families for the rights we enjoy today. Along the way there were those who sacrificed their lives for our right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." What many Americans are yet to discover though is that our freedom does not rest solely on the efforts and sacrifices of our fore-fathers alone. Our freedom is ours because our Heavenly Father chose to smile upon us as a nation. In His providence, He intervened in human history and, through men, as he always does, set up this nation, I believe to be a beacon of hope where people of all nations would have the opportunity for true freedom through faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the freedom which exceeds the physical freedom of this world. It is freedom from the power of sin which holds all men in bondage. It is freedom to know God and to partake of His holiness. It is freedom to live as He calls us to live. It is freedom which is not free. It was bought and paid for by the sacrifice of the Precious Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave up His glory in heaven for a time to enter our world where He then gave up His life as the Great Sacrifice for all men. In doing so, He purchased salvation full and free for every human being. He sacrificed His life for our privilege to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." This is the great struggle of our day! Not the struggle to rid the world of terrorists, disease, hunger or hardships. It is the struggle to bring people out of the bondage of sin into the glorious liberty of Christ where they are free in that same pursuit of life, liberty, and holiness. In Christ we are free indeed to experience all that His life offers: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. I rejoice in our freedom in Christ today as we continue to serve Him by preaching the gospel of His death, burial, and resurrection to a lost and dying world in every opportunity afforded us. Friends, let us pray that we will never take our freedom in Christ for granted. Let us ever rejoice and Stand fast "in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free " We are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. He will not fail us nor forsake us. He is at work in our midst saving souls and changing lives. Let us ever praise Him for our freedom in the Son-John 8:32-36, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered Him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, Verily, I say unto you, whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth for ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." |
