Titus 2 Men And Women

God Is Able
by Pastor Wayne Harper

Acts, chapter 5, records the account of God intervening in the lives of the Apostles by sending one of His angles to open their prison door - "Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.  But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life"(Acts 5:17-20).

In our day of secular focus and mediocre religion there is a skecptism about God intervening in the lives of His people today?   There are "religious" people who deny any kind of miracle.  Others discount God altogether.  And some Christians have trouble believing God is real and active in lives today!  They question whether something like this could ever happen in Mountain View, America, or anywhere in this modern age.

I want to assure you that the God who sent the angel to deliver the Apostles is the same God we serve today.  He still uses His divine messengers to carry out His purposes and may indeed, if He so chooses,  intervene in your life one day!
I read a story recently that reminds us of God's interest in our lives and God's care for His people.  I pray you will be encouraged by this testimony.

The Indian Christian, Sundar Singh (pronounced Sing), served the Lord in the ancient land of Tibet.  On one occasion, by order of the chief of the village, he was thrown into a dry well, the lid of which was securely locked.  His crime?  Preaching the gospel in the marketplace.  He was left in the well to die like others before him, whose bones and rotting flesh lay nearby.  On the third night, when he had been crying to God in prayer, he heard someone unlocking the lid of the well and removing the cover.  A voice spoke and told him to take hold of the rope being lowered.  He found a loop at the bottom in which he could place his foot, he was drawn up.  The lid was replaced and locked.  When he looked around him to thank his rescuer, he could find no trace of anyone.  The fresh air revived him, and when morning came he returned to the city and began preaching again.  News reached the chief that the man who had been thrown in the well for preaching was free and back to his evangelistic activity.  Singh was hauled before the chief and questioned.  The chief declared that someone must have gotten the key and let him out.  But when the search was made the key was found attached to the chief's own belt.  Villagers afterward assumed that their evangelist had been delivered by an angel, perhaps the one that delivered the apostles in Acts 5.

In Ephesians 3:14-21 we are told that the Lord is able to do exceeding abuntantly above all that we ask or think - "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.   Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Our God is personal, present, and preoccupied with our circumstances.  He is able today to meet your every need.  We need not fear what man can do for we know Him who is eternal.  Praise Him today for His continued love and grace in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
