Looking into the causes of your pain and/or anger, understanding them, and forgiving those who inflicted them can be painful in itself. You may come to realize that someone you trusted, someone who was supposed to help and protect you, violated you. Allow yourself to feel it and talk about whatever you feel. Sometimes this can be very difficult and overwhelming, but it is a necessary part of the healing process. This is precisely what you needed to do but were unable to do when it occurred. At this point going and talking to that person may be inappropriate or impossible. Ask the Lord for wisdom to know how best to approach this. In time, you will get to the point of forgiving the person(s). This can be the most difficult of all but it is absolutely necessary to truly heal from your depression. You may feel the person doesn't deserve your forgiveness, or that the pain or anger they caused you has been so devastating and overwhelming that you can't possibly forgive them. No, on your own you can't. Staying in the Word and asking the Lord to help you with this is a must. Until you forgive you are still victimized by what you went through. Forgiveness is the Biblical path to freedom. Many people have found it helpful to remember our example, Jesus. If anyone had the right to be angry and bitter, he did. Having done nothing wrong, those who hated him demanded his crucifixion. They beat him, mocked him, hit him, bound him, tore his beard from his face, put a crown of thorns on his head, made him carry his own cross, and then pounded 7" roman spikes into his wrists and feet. His nervous system was shattered and every move to try to breathe brought balls of fiery pain all through his body . The Bible says that when they dropped his heavy cross into the ground all his bones went out of joint. On the human level he would seem to have every right to feel anger toward these men and call down fire from heaven to destroy them. But what does Jesus do? He asks his Father to forgive them! Let him be our example. Forgiveness can be very difficult. It can sometimes take a long time for us to get to the point in the healing process where it happens, but with God's help it is possible. Once again, you need to stay in the Word and very likely get help from a qualified person in order to do so.

It is not easy to deal with depression, but thanks be to God, you will make it through as you keep reading and studying the Bible and continue to see a competent person who can help you. "Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ".
