When my daughter Kristina was eight years old her teacher called me in for a conference. I couldn't imagine what she had done to warrant this, and she couldn't think of anything she had done wrong. I thought, "maybe a candy sale or something."

When the teacher told me that Kristina was disrupting the entire class time I was sure she meant another child. The teacher kindly said, "Kristina is so very talented and a quick learner. However, she cannot work five minutes at a time without needing my approval to give her confidence to keep going." God took my heart and just squeezed it to get my attention. His still small voice whispered, do you know where she learned that from?

I went home that afternoon…it was an extremely long thirty-seven miles home.
And each of those seemingly 3, 337 miles and a million hours, were filled with teaching from God-for me. I 'saw' and 'heard' why Kristina was having the problem in school when I 'saw' and 'heard' that she learned it well from her mother. That long drive home was the beginning of God's changing and healing me from my abusive childhood.

Why is it so important to look for, confess and change these kinds of 'human' problems in our lives? It is important to get these sore spots cleaned up and healed so that we can abide in Christ and our children, their children, and their children's children do not suffer with the same sore spots in their lives.

As moms and grandmas….as dads and grandpas, we pray for our children and grandchildren to be used of God. Like me, few of us ever stop and think to pray about looking for, feeling for, asking God to reveal well covered over sore spots/sin problems in our lives that will prevent our children and grandchildren from being used of God: Sore spots/sins that may cause our children and grandchildren to be defeated…even miserable Christians.

Can our offspring be in God's perfect will if they have learned from their forefathers that lying is okay? What about-

Anxiety anger bad attitude
complaining spirit Worthlessness non-communication
impatience Unbridled tongue insecurity
lack of trust Lying dishonesty
selfishness lustful

A few months ago I began hearing the words Strong Hold. I knew about strong holds in the Bible-fortresses, but I had never heard it used in conjunction with people. I had never heard it used from the pulpit…so something inside of me almost assumed it was a "New Age" thing. How very wrong I was!

The words Strong Hold are found 22 times in scripture. Mrs. Teddi Neevel, my friend who instructed me about this truth of God, wrote the following mini-lesson for me to include in this lesson:
