etc.

I am a baby-boomer so terms used in my younger days have changed. I grew up hearing the phrase, "Boy is she sore!" It was understood that the phrase meant that someone was one of the above descriptive words and was letting others know it by her actions, attitude, or words!

SORE---in the Webster's Dictionary means:
Painful….sorely vexed
Filled with saddness/grief……sore at heart
Provoking irritation……sore point
Sore head is a person who is angry, resentful, disgruntled or one who is easily made so.
Sorely needed…utterly needed, extremely needed
giving pain
irritation
angry
offended
infected spot on the body
a source of pain/distress

After writing all of these definitions down I sat and considered the list for a long time. I saw myself in many situations and at many times in my life. A sore can be painful and irritating to us and it can also be painful and irritating to others that have to live with us.

I also considered the reality that most of the sore spots in my life were given little consideration as being problems that needed fixing. Oh, many, and most of them, God did fix…mend and heal. However, much of the healing was done against my will-not with my wanting it or yielding to it easily. (From years of counseling women I know that I am not the only one who will relate to this paragraph. )

Does God only want to heal the big gaping root bound hurts in our lives? Was Jesus only sent to heal major diseases, broken bones, cancer, damaged emotions, drug abuse…the accepted "BIG" problems in our lives? No.

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
