Psalms 9:10  And they who know thy name will put their trust in thee:  for thou LORD hast not forsaken them that seek thee."

The last time that we met we studied the names of God-

El Roi==The God who sees.....Omniscient and Omnipresent God

El Shaddai==God Almighty---The All-Sufficient One

God is all-sufficient for our every need but can we know Him as our every refuge before we know Him as Lord, Master, Owner of our lives?  By experience I KNOW that we cannot.

"Christians today appear to know Christ only after the flesh.  They try to achieve communion with Him by divesting Him of His burning holiness and unapproachable majesty, the very attribute He veiled while on earth but assumed in fullness of glory upon His ascension to the Father’s right hand.   The Christ of popular Christianity has a weak smile and a halo.  He has become  ‘Somone-up-There’ who likes people, at least some people, and these are grateful but not too impressed.   If they need Him, He also needs them.

Let us not imagine that the truth of the divine self-sufficiency will paralyze Christian activity.   Rather, it will stimulate all holy endeavor.  This truth, while a needed rebuke to human self-confidence, will when viewed in its Biblical perspective lift from our minds the exhausting load or morality and encourage us to take the easy yoke of Christ and spend ourselves in Spirit-inspired toil for the honor of God and the good of mankind.  For the blessed news is that the God who needs no one has in sovereign condescension stooped to work by and in and through His obedient children."--   A.W. Tozer---"The Knowledge of the Holy"

So many times we as Christians just do and do and do some more without stopping and getting to KNOW God and see Him in all of His majesty with a humble awe of OUR Sovereign God.  We seem to fear being a "deeper lifer" Christian....we somehow think that  "read a verse and go and get busy" is a godly way to live.   I lived that way for the first thirteen years after I dedicated my life to God...the first thirteen years of my marriage.

For those first thirteen years I taught Sunday School, I had others do my praying for me (didn’t feel worthy), I read the Bible too often with "others" in mind. I saw good Christians on a pedestal...a cast-system in the church.  I wanted to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led and could not attain what I wanted---all that I perceived  the "Super Christians" had in the Lord: a walk with God, a love for His Word, Godly wisdom and discernment...a Spirit-led life that found all-sufficiency IN God.  I ached for all of this and I ‘tried’ until I became utterly discouraged.  When I gave up trying God brought me to a full surrender to Himself as Adonai.

QUOTE:  "But does it matter what I do as long as I acknowledge Him as Lord and tell Him that I want His free gift of salvation...eternal life?  Yes it does for " Lord" is more than a word; it indicates a relationship.  The Lordship of God means His total possession of me and my total submission to Him as my Lord and Master."

ONLY A SERVANT CAN BE TOTALLY DEPENDENT UPON HIS MASTER TO MEET ALL OF HIS NEEDS. Psalms 123:2  "Behold the eyes of the servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord  our God until that he have mercy upon us."
