Circumstances can rob our happiness but not our joy and peace. Happiness is decided by circumstances but we can have peace regardless of our circumstances. Joy and peace are in our minds and hearts because Jesus dwells in us, and we can set our minds and hearts on the LORD. Jesus indwells us and He is the Prince of Peace**we must take possession of that peace by faith.

How has the LORD God provided for our joy and peace in this sin-sick world?
Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
A work of righteousness is doing what God says is right*obedience, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

As shocking as it may be to some Christians*the Holy Spirit did not die! He is real! From the moment that we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, The Holy Spirit dwells in us and is waiting to lead us, guide us, teach us, give us discernment, bring to remembrance what we need*when we need it.

As verse 14 said, we are to have peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. This does not mean in mystical utterings but, rather, to have joy in Him as the third person of the trinity. We speak to God the Father and we speak to God the Son*Jesus Christ. But how often do we acknowledge God the Holy Spirit?

Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Jesus provided us another comforter when He ascended to Heaven to sit on the right hand of God His Father. And we should get to know who lives inside of us and what His workings are in our lives:

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Joh 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.*
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to abide with us forever, comfort us, teach us, and bring to our remembrance all that Jesus said to us.
