"...thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that my glory may sing praise unto thee and not be silent.  o Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever."  Psalm 30:11b-12

Who put off my sackcloth and surrounded me with gladness?  Who turned my years of physical and emotional abuse into praise unto God that keeps me from being silent?  Who causes me to give thanks unto Him forever....for pain, and hurt, and scars that remain? No, THANKFUL for His goodness to me and to those He comforts because of my scars... for His glory only.

The following is going to be a Bible Study that will show God’s provision for the healing  needed in our lives.  I have tried to bring scriptural truths together that God used to bring healing to my life---truths I have had the privilege of teaching,  and counseling for many years. I hope each of you will meditate on the following, asking God to teach you and lead you into the truth of His Word.

"When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

Matthew 8:16-17

With His Word Jesus cast out the demons and healed all that were sick.

The following word definitions are from the Strong’s Concordance:

  • The word healed means: To heal, cure, restore to health
  • The word sick means: To be diseased OR miserable, AMISS

From Webster’s Dictionary the word amiss means: in a wrong way; wrong, faultily, astray

  • The word infirmities means: infirmity , weakness , disease , sickness , want of strength, weakness, infirmity frailty; feebleness of health or sickness; of the soul;  want of strength; to bear trials and troubles

So Jesus also took on himself our want of strength, frailty and so much more.

This list is very comprehensive: Jesus not only came to heal physical sickness, but these verses tell us that He came to heal those amiss (in a wrong way, astray) and in feebleness of soul  in bearing their trials and troubles.

 "... to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."
Isaiah 61:3

In the Strong’s Concordance"

  • Ashes==worthlessness
  • Heaviness==dark, dim, dull, colorless, faint   (depression?)

God---Jehovah-Rapha heals all!  And Jesus and His Father are one. Jesus was sent to heal from ALL...with His Word.  (And in physical illness, as with Paul, sometimes God chooses to sustain us until He perfectly heals us in Heaven.)
