Innovative Ideas For Activities:

Because of the diversity of women, it is necessary to be diverse in content, option of activities offered, time of day conducted and day of week activities are offered.

Once a quarter you may want to plan a special event with a theme sure to attract non-Christians or non-committed church members.  Always encourage your leaders to invite friends and co-workers.

Secret Pal Program:

Suggestion: The program could run for the duration of the school year.  If the pal you are given has a birthday or anniversary during the summer months, you could give them a gift during the winter and call it a ˝ birthday.  You could of course remember their celebration on the exact date even though the program is not active in the summer.  The key thing:  Don’t consider what you are going to get out of this program, but what can you do to support a sister in the Lord.  Ways to support each other:  Cards or written notes, simple homemade things (foods, etc.), and especially daily prayer.  Plan ahead and expect a blessing.  Type a form "Getting to know your secret pal" and include a place to list favorite foods, colognes, fragrances/scents, hobbies, collectibles, colors, authors, birthday, anniversary, etc.

Promotional Theme Suggestions:

This is only a begging...the ideas are limitless so let your imagination run wild!  Just make it a matter of prayer and let the Holy Spirit lead.

Try to do something special at each event, such as door prizes, drawings, etc.  If they bring a friend, honor both with a small prize.  These do not have to be expensive items---use things such as candy bars, homemade breads, small potted plants, cashews, candies, etc.

God bless you!  Have fun as you seek to reach women for Christ.

Acts of Kindness:  Offer free gift wrapping at a mall or store just before Christmas, free cookies at a craft bazaar, free car wash, free ice water at a public outdoor event, etc.  Accept no money from anyone, present your act of kindness as a free gift like the free gift of salvation that God offers each of us through His Son.  Hand out a tract or flier to those who want one.  A gardener could divide their perennial plants.  Women could bake specialty breads in soup cans for senior couples or shut ins.  Put together hospital packs:  New baby ones could include a phone card, disposable camera, pack of certs, small tube of lotion, new parent devotional book  One for surgery or I.C.U. waiting room---a phone card, chap stick, tissues, slipper socks, juice boxes, lotion, small lap throw, thank you cards, stamps, pre-paid gas card, devotional book  and/or journal ink pens.  ---Teddi Neevel

Remembrance Mugs:  Everyone brings a coffee mug to the meeting with their name written in indelible ink pen on the bottom and each with a number on it or in it.  Everyone draws a duplicate number out of a basket and takes that mug home with them.  Every time during the month the mug is used each lady prays for the person whose name is on the bottom of the mug.   ---Betty Lightle

Bake for special occasions:  Once a month the ladies gather to bake for birthdays and anniversaries that month.  ---Julie Fink

Cleaning the church:  Make it a fun time!  Use your imagination!  --Julie Fink

Progressive Dinner:  (Or progressive fast food night---going from restaurant to restaurant)  Have a five minute devotional at each home or restaurant. ---Lori Knutsen

Missionary night:  Honor one of your missionaries.  Have food eaten in the country the missionary serves in.  Dress in the dress of that country. Research the country and have someone give a report.  Collect items for a missionary basket to send to that missionary wife.  ---Gloria Wurster

Release your burdens:  Have a devotion on the subject.  Have helium balloons blown up.  Have each lady write her burdens on a balloon.  Take them outside, have a word of prayer and release the balloons and watch them fly up to the Lord, leaving them with the Lord to take them and do with them what He will.    ---Pat French

Balance:  An interior decorator could share how to tastefully display and use what we have in our homes.  Speaker: "Balance in our personal lives"

Fashion Show Makeover:  Take a basic black and denim outfit and accessorize it various ways to fit any income level.  Show proper attire for different occasions---including church activities.  Someone could show the proper way to apply make-up.  Speaker:  "Beauty From The Inside Out"

T Party:  Everything worn, eaten, etc. should begin with the letter "T."  Could be used for tithing emphasis or Thanksgiving.

Craft Night:  Have someone demonstrate a craft...or have 2-3 crafts demonstrated in different areas of the building.  This could be done on a small or very large scale.  Visitors are very receptive to this.

Ice Cream Social:  Everyone brings their favorite toppings.  Speaker: "Why Sundays Are Special"
