May Update

John and Sharon Gay Sanders
have been missionaries for many years in Romania. They helped establish the church at Brasov and John teaches in the Bible Institute. Sharon Gay is a registered nurse and is allowed to do some ministering work in the orphanages.

Brian and Tamyra Crossley
their goal is to establish a children's home, eventually more than one. Where children will be loved, educated, and trained by parents instead of just warehoused.

Sharon Sanders purchases fresh fruit and takes it into the orphanages, hands it out and watches each child eat their piece of fruit. If she leaves it for mealtime the older kids take it away from the little ones and some goes home with staff. Money is always in short supply for this. They were also having a problem with funds for milk and diapers a while back.

There is some problem with mailing supplies. It can take months and some packages never arrive. We usually send supplies with people. (If the packages arrive the missionaries are charged very high fees when they pick them up. Most are opened and the contents stolen.)

FULL HOUSE (Casa Plina) Ministry to the orphan children.

Attendance has been down for about a month. We've had to ask several of the kids from the villages not to return because of disruptive behavior. Also, with the longer daylight hours those who beg for family income are not being allowed to stop begging to go to Full House. As a result the face of Full House has changed. Many of the underground people (people literally living in the sewers) are young adults. I've evaluated the situation and believe it may be time to divide it into two separate ministries. One, focusing on village kids and one on the underground people. Now that the door has been opened we are beginning to visit them on their turf. They spend their days at the train station. We have to be very careful with our activities at the train station due to child protection's big brother mentality. So we use our time at the train station just developing relationships and inviting others to Full House where we can teach them more freely. Our train station visits have been productive so far. The last Full House meeting this month had 32 people, all from the train station. One more under-grounder has been saved and was baptized this last Sunday. Brother Petru has even brought him into his home. He says he wants to get a job and get out of that lifestyle. I've been ver pleased that a couple of these underground people have begun attending some church services this month.

OUR HOUSE:

(The Crossley's have three children of their own and six Romanian children. They live in a two bedroom apartment.)

The new three are just now showing signs of accepting our authority and are beginning to obey the rules. I've had much more opportunity to learn and use Romanian with the kids in our house. This has helped much to learn the language and I've been trying to teach our family lessons in Romanian. I finally taught my first lesson without a translator at Full House. We have to try and find a new place to live and it needs to be big enough to take in more kids. This will be difficult to find but we're still praying the Lord will compel some Romanian to donate a home.

Costi, one of our new three has accepted Christ as his savior and is talking about baptism. Nico has not yet made a decision but has been asking alot of questions about how to be saved. We are praying and hope to see her saved soon. (As of the writing of this report, Nico has been saved!) Praise GOD!

SCHOOL:

Getting the new kids registered for school was quite the experience. I had to have birth certificates, medical releases and permission from three different locations to allow them to go. This took a week and a half of running from this place to that, getting medical examinations done and pleading with the director of the local school to allow them to go. At one point (she spoke English) she asked me if I felt like these children had a chance? I couldn't believe that she said that, and replied; absolutely! I would not bring them into my home if I did not believe that they will flourish and be a contributing citizen to Romanian society. She smiled and replied, all right I will give my approval if, the main director over all the schools gives his approval.

--Full House kids…the children that come from the streets and sewers to find help. (The orphanage situation in Romania is much like the rescue missions in America…they can come and go as they want to. In the cold weather they come more often.)
--Carmen, Viorel (Salvation), George, Jacov, Caline and Soreen (Baptism)
--New work in the village of Harman: The Lord would open hearts (Acts. 16:14)

Our Home:

--Visa's renewal approved.
--That God would provide a house for these and more children to live in.(The government is insisting that they have a bigger home. There is a rule as to how many people can live in how many square feet of house space. This is an urgent request! If they do not have a house by September the government will not renew their visas.)
In May--"I do know the Lord has not brought us this far to leave us with no place to go with all these children. PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE THIS A DILIGENT MATTER OF PRAYER. Our hope is that a Romanian will donate a house. We believe in the power of prayer and our children are diligently praying for a house and car. Please join us in this and watch what our Lord does!"
In June--Two in our home were baptized this month. Costi, one of the new kids and our oldest daughter Brittania. Though baptized only a few months ago, Brittania told us she realizes she had never really repented of her sins before. Nico was saved this last month also, but has not yet sought baptism. All six orphans are progressing very well. We continue to look for a new place to live and have made a particular building in Vilcele a focus of our family prayers. We are using this need to teach the kids to turn to God with their needs and trust Him. They are praying diligently and have even made themselves a prayer chart.
