PROJECT: ROMANIA
BRIAN CROSSLEY
April 2003
First I apologize for the report being late again. Once more our internet
access was hindered for over a week. April has been the most exasperating
month we’ve ever had. It was time to renew visas and there are several
new requirements which are making life impossible for many foreigners.
They wouldn’t approve our visas without some new forms, but no one knew what
the forms were, where to get them or what information to put on them.
Because of them not knowing what they wanted, we are way overdue
and yet they are fining us because of the delays they caused.
By the time we finally got the paperwork they shut down their office for a week
holiday making us later and we were told we would have to pay even more late
fees for it. We were finally able to appease them and are supposed to
pick up our visa’s May 15th.
With the owner of the house we are renting returning, we decided to try and
find a place to buy to live in for a few years to buy some time to build on
the property. After weeks of disappointments we found a place so perfect
that we’ve decided to make it the permanent home for the children’s home.
It was half the price of anything else we looked at, twice the land as the original
property and half the distance to the city of Brasov.
It is going to need a lot of work but over time, it will become a perfect children’s
home. It only has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath but we hope to be able to remodel
this summer and get enough space to handle our existing children. Then,
within a year we hope to add on a back section to handle all the kids we intend
to take in over the years.
We have to be out of our rental by June 1st and the house won’t
be ready by then, but hopefully with a month we can get the water and electric
far enough along to get by. We’re working frantically to get as much as
we can done before we move in.
The new church work has been a true blessing. The kids are learning a
lot and the Lord has been blessing. Two more were saved this month and
three want baptisms. The meetings have been sweet and when we move to
the new house we hope to start having more visitors attend from that village.
None of the kids from Mica Turma came this month but I think the planting season
is over and we’ve begun seeing them in the city again and they say they plan
to start coming again. Meanwhile, Casa Plina has been going strong and
we had a special Easter meeting they all seemed to enjoy.
Please pray our visa’s will be approved and also approval of our foundation
(there are new laws for foundations too and we are still pursuing that).
Also, please pray we can find the time to get the house ready and have the time
to pack and move while having to spend so much time dealing with the visa and
foundation bureaucracies.
With grace unearned,
Brian Crossley
