Articles Of Hope For - Relationships

This is the introduction to a Bible study that I have written entitled "Speaking Love as a Titus 2 Woman" The study is available for sale by contacting me through this website using our Contact Page.

1Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." (love)

Hebrews 10:24 "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:"

Gary Chapman's book "The Five Love Languages" deals with the basic ways we have of communicating love. His emphasis is in marriage relationships but I want to expand this into all areas of our lives so we each can become the Titus 2 woman that God has mandated we become.

Ephesians 2:4-10 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Each individual has a primary love language...a way that makes them feel loved and valued that is a part of their basic personality. It is important for us to recognize our own love language so that we will understand ourselves better. It is also important for us to become linguists. As we study the 5 love languages we will also learn how to speak these languages. We will learn to recognize the love languages of others in our families and of our friends. Once we have learned to recognize and speak all 5 languages we will find it easier to understand other people and to meet their emotional needs as we mentor and disciple them.

For some people it is difficult to recognize their own love language because we are taught that we should respond a specific way. Some of us feel frustrated and unloved because we have buried our basic love language under the stuff of life until we aren't sure what language we need to hear.

The five love languages are:

  1. Words of Affirmation
  2. Quality Time
  3. Receiving Gifts
  4. Acts of Service
  5. Physical Touch

Ephesians 4:1-3 "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

1John 4:7-8 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.'

God has commanded us as Christians to love one another and it doing so to show His love to the world. What is the purpose of loving others if they don't recognize that they are loved? We must learn to speak all of the languages of love in order to show Christ to those around us. If we are going to follow the biblical mandate to teach others they must be able to comprehend that our teaching is done because we love them individually...not because we think we are right or want to be in control.
